The Path
(2004)
Interactive light installation
Lights, sensors, electronics, luminescent
materials
As a viewer enters the darkened installation space, they
pass by a motion sensor and trigger a spotlight. The
spotlight is aimed at a small spot on the floor that is
painted with special glow-in-the-dark paint. As the viewers
pass by the sensor and trigger the light, the light
“charges” this spot on the floor for a few seconds. Viewers
are encouraged to walk towards the glowing spot, allowing
the first light to time off. As they make their way towards
this spot, they will trigger another light to illuminate
and charge another spot, for a few seconds, at another
location in the room. On their route to the third spot,
they will trigger a fourth spot, and so on. The Path leads
the viewers through the space via a secret glowing
path.
