To me, the McNamara Gallery is a liminal
space- a threshold, between states, borders. In such
spaces, there are constant flux, neither one state, nor the
other. Antenna Clouds is composed of many feedback
oscillators with a light and a speaker calling out,
listening and responding to each other. Each pulse and
light are the products of the oscillator. Each oscillator
is also listening, or sensitive to its surround light
environment. As the light levels change around each
"antenna", the oscillator fluctuates and with it's
individual light and speaker, embodying this response. In
turn, it affects another cloud, and so on, endlessly
calling out and responding to each other, creating a
constant feedback loop. The clouds never stabilize, only
making palpable the liminal nature of this space.

The
Depository(2008)
The Depository is a soundscape portal that gives the
participants and the viewers a sonic window into their
community and a place to anonymously vocalize their concerns,
much like the communication vein of an internet message
board. It is created from several message posting places,
each in a different city. There is an common interface of a
security intercom, where viewers can listen to their secret
sister city in real-time, record messages or postings for
others to listen to messages, or listen to messages and
postings from the sister city. While the Depositories
provides a vehicle for expression, they are also a sonic
portals to other worlds, painting a soundscape of a different
land in Realtime, raising awareness of parallel activity.
With these characteristics, the Depository bridges foreign
places, builds community and enable connections, and by
default, creates another space.
